China’s E-commerce from Jan.-Aug.: Steady Growth Across Sectors
On September 22nd, a responsible person from the E-Commerce Department of the Ministry of Commerce revealed that China’s e-commerce continued to develop healthily and steadily from January to August. It not only expanded the consumption of goods and services but also accelerated the innovative application of artificial intelligence and promoted mutually beneficial win-win international economic and trade.
Key Retail Data: Data from the National Bureau of Statistics shows that from January to August, China’s online retail sales increased by 9.6%, and online retail sales of physical goods grew by 6.4%.
Product Category Growth: Monitoring by business big data indicates that online sales of home appliances and digital products grew rapidly; smart wearables, computers, and mobile phones grew by 25.2%, 23.7%, and 20.2% respectively.
Service Consumption Growth: In addition, online service consumption rose by 18.9%, with online sales of tourism and catering growing by 25.5% and 19.1% respectively.
