Taobao Vision's first Shanghai future flagship store opens, merging AI+3D+XR for immersive shopping and starting national expansion.
On September 26, 2025, Taobao’s newly created future shopping space—the Taobao Vision Future Flagship Store—officially opened its first physical location in Shanghai, kickstarting its national expansion plan.
The store combines “AI + 3D + XR” technologies to offer brands solutions that boost offline store efficiency. It allows brands to display unlimited SKUs in limited spaces, enabling users to customize products freely and enjoy an immersive shopping experience.
At the launch event, Zhao Kun, head of Taobao and XR business, stood on stage with a 1:1 replica of the Gauss digital human to announce the official opening of the Shanghai store. The store will be free for visitors during its first two months.
Zhao Kun said, “We aim to let more consumers and merchants experience future shopping technologies.”
In June 2025, the first concept store of Taobao Vision Future Flagship Store completed a trial run at Alibaba’s headquarters. With the Shanghai store open, Taobao Vision is now expanding nationwide—offline spaces in Shenzhen, Changsha, and Zhengzhou will debut during the National Day Golden Week.
Taobao Vision has previously partnered with brands like DJI and Xiaomi Auto on innovative projects. Recent collaborations include a pioneering “spatial fragrance testing” experience with Yuyi and China’s first virtual “flying car” demo with Huitian.
In June 2025, Taobao Vision won the Apple Design Award. Apple praised it for delivering immersive experiences through realistic 3D models, calling it a “perfect example of 3D design and application.”
Taobao Vision will focus on offline expansion this year, with a new version scheduled to launch around the Double 11 shopping festival.
